Voice your choice in our Foresters Branch Councillor elections!

Branch Councillors are all about giving back, connecting with inspiring people and helping to shape Foresters. But before they can start doing these wonderful things, they need to be elected by members like you!

Our Member Network

Across Canada, the US and the UK, there are 50 Branch Councils that help support local volunteer initiatives. Five Regional Councils oversee each of these branches and help them plan their activities every step of the way. Finally, there is our Board of Directors, who handle the business management and fraternal affairs of Foresters Financial.

When you’re elected as a Branch Councillor, you’ll start at the local Branch Council level. From there, you can seek new opportunities to move throughout the Member Network and take on different leadership roles within your Branch Council, or at the Regional Council or Board of Director levels.

How elections work

Everything kicks off with members nominating themselves for a Branch Councillor role. After the nomination period, we start the elections process. In August, we mail out election packages to members that provide more information about candidates in their local branches.

You get two ways to vote:

  • Voting by mail – Your voting packing includes a ballot and pre-paid envelope. You can select your desired candidates and mail your choice directly to Foresters.
  • Online voting – This is quicker and easier. You just need to head to our voting page on MyForesters to get started.

Do all branches need an election?

There are a few instances where an election isn’t necessary. If your branch has fewer candidates than open positions, or if the number of candidates matches the open positions exactly, an election will not go forward. In these cases, the branches are notified either by postcard or an email, along with online messaging to provide more information about their Branch Councillors.

If you don’t vote, we can’t hear you!

Branch Councillor elections are a great time to show up for your community and get your voice heard at Foresters! You have a say in who represents your local branch and who can provide feedback on member benefits and our Board of Directors. By voting, you’re sharing your voice with us and helping to shape Foresters and your community! Learn more about our Branch Councillor elections and get your vote in now.
